Transforming Stefan & Beatrice’s 18th century kitchen

Stefan & Beatrice’s Kitchen

From time to time we are tasked with creating stunning bespoke designer kitchens in unique spaces – none more so than this 18th century property in Yeadon. Due to the age of the property, we had to contend with uneven ceiling heights, sloped walls and several other factors, which made the end results even more satisfying for our clients Stefan and Beatrice.

This stand-out kitchen design challenges the norms with its bold use of black as the primary colour, paired with silver finishes and a magical chandelier as the centrepiece.

The key to achieving the right balance for this bespoke kitchen in Yeadon was the intentional pairing of materials that combined statement colour with elegant texture to create a grand and dramatic feeling. We enhanced the aesthetic of the space by using traditional and timeless Ash Shaker doors finished in Farrow & Ball Pitch Black.

Among this kitchen’s other stunning features are an inset pantry, bespoke and handcrafted radiator cover with storage drawers and 30mm Superior Calacatta work surfaces. Throughout the kitchen, we predominantly used Neff appliances with ‘Hide & Slide’ ovens and American-style floor-to–ceiling fridge freezer.

The theme of the kitchen was carried through into the entrance porch of the home, where we continued the use of Pitch Black Ash Shaker doors for the cabinetry.

"Very happy with our new kitchen"

“Designing, manufacturing and installing a kitchen, diner and cloakroom for our 18th century property was never going to be a straightforward proposition. Irregular ceiling heights, wonky walls and awkward niches had to be accounted for and pretty much dictated the need for a bespoke design. Mother Hubbard’s had been recommended by relatives, so we went along to their showroom thinking it may be beyond our budget. We discussed our requirements with John who explained some of our options and gave us an initial indication on costings. We arranged a home visit to further the design and at this stage, having established an outline specification and proposed layout, we further honed the budget and I must say, Mother Hubbards did a very good job of working within the agreed budget and managed the design, manufacture and installation excellently. There was the odd hiccup, but problems were always resolved swiftly and without fuss, (e.g. a couple of days before installation we still made changes to our quartz work surfaces and incorporated a waterfall edge to the breakfast bar). The manufacture installation were to a very high standard and we were very impressed with their workmanship. Overall happy with the experience and very, very happy with our new kitchen, it’s so enjoyable to cook in and use!. Thank you Mother Hubbards! Highly recommend to anyone in a similar situation to us needing a bespoke kitchen.”
