Transforming Tim & Beth‘s kitchen

Kitchen Case Study Calverley

Bevelled shaker cabinetry hand-painted in Farrow & Ball’s Stiffkey Blue and Dimpse, paired with Carrara Onyx composite quartz surfaces, sets the tone for this classic kitchen with a clean, contemporary edge. Creating the space required significant structural work—removing walls and inserting steelwork to open up the floor plan and maximize both the aesthetic and ergonomic flow of the room.

Along the party wall, a striking bank of full-height tower units grounds the layout, housing a Samsung American-style fridge-freezer. The homeowners were keen to include a bespoke butler’s pantry within this run. However, the existing hall door opening into the room created a potential clash with traditional side-hung pantry doors. To resolve the architectural conflict, we specified an engineered bi-fold door system that allows the pantry doors to fold seamlessly to the left, keeping access effortless and completely clear of the doorway.

At the heart of the cooking zone sits a duo of side-by-side Neff Slide&Hide® single ovens, paired with a Neff vented induction hob integrated into the peninsula. Operating as a re-circulating system, the hob draws steam downwards into the rear of the cabinetry, cleanly venting fresh air out through a discreet stainless steel grille in the kickboard.

Ergonomics play a quiet yet essential role throughout the layout. Difficult blind corners, narrow base units, and the tall larder are transformed using precision pull-out hardware. By bringing internal storage forward, contents that would otherwise be lost at the back of deep cupboards are visible at a glance.

Love it so much

“I almost didn’t make it to Mother Hubbards. I called John to cancel my appointment because I thought I didn’t have the budget for a bespoke kitchen. However, John persuaded me that my budget was sufficient so I kept the appointment and trekked to Pudsey. I am very glad I did! On my first visit the the showroom I explained to John that I would like in-frame cupboards with slab doors and bifolding cupboards to conceal the toaster etc and he totally understood what I was looking for. The visualisations he provided were really accurate and helped with the design process. John was very helpful with the worktop choice and even shared contact details so I could visit the factory to see a huge slab of quartz before confirming my decision. We have ended up with a functional and beautiful kitchen we love, that cost very little more than the off the shelf kitchens I had looked at.”
