Transforming Stephen & Angela’s kitchen
Adel, Leeds
When Stephen and Angela Roberts first called to the showroom to see me, their vision of a new kitchen evoked a modern minimalist style, a plain door which would have no recesses or grooves, thus making it easy to keep clean.
The ‘Hucklow’ 22mm thick MDF slab door was what they wanted and Angela chose this to be painted in Farrow & Ball Skimming Stone, a colour which would invite light into the room and bounce it back onto the Paint & Paper Library light grey colour on the walls.
To contrast with the Skimming Stone kitchen furniture she chose black: Neff appliances – a slide-and-hide single oven, compact oven with microwave, warming drawer and induction hob – and a Qettle Signature Modern boiling water tap and Crofts & Assinder ‘Monmouth’ doorknobs. This contrast between the Skimming Stone and the black defines and emphasises the two colours in a way that is both subtle and simple, and adds another element to the sense of modernity and contemporary edginess that is the essence of this kitchen.
Angela was also keen to have a 500mm high composite quartz splashback as a backdrop behind the hob, enhancing the chic mood and adding a further dimension to the ‘Irini’ work surface aesthetic.
The primarily grey tones of the Amtico parquet-style flooring with a border reinforce the hints of grey in the room, developing that colour theme & fashioning a style that is both unique and inviting.
The result is a stunningly beautiful kitchen full of airy light and simple charm, disguising a plethora of ergonomic features, including seven storage pullouts, that would inspire any serious-minded home cook to ask: “Who wouldn’t love to work in a kitchen like this?”
We very highly recommend John and his team
‘Assuring you of our best attention at all times’… and that is exactly what you get from John and his professional team: Richard (fitter), Andy (electrics), Russel (flooring) and Andy (plumbing). Friendly, hardworking, tidy workers.
It was a chance mention by a bathroom fitter who promoted Mother Hubbard’s Kitchens that prompted us to contact John. From our first visit to the showroom to the completion of our beautiful kitchen, we experienced professionalism and realised John was dedicated to providing quality service. John gave sound advice and drew up high-quality plans which were implemented by all the team, giving careful attention to every detail of the installation.
Richard’s precision and pride in his work is to be commended. John was in touch throughout the process. Nothing was a trouble to him. He was a pleasure to deal with. We very highly recommend John and his team. Our new kitchen is much admired and we spend a lot of time in it. Thank you all.
